Model40

About

Who's behind Model40.

Model40 is my business. I'm B.J. Blaker.

I've worked in IT for over twenty years. I've built websites, run networks, managed infrastructure, and written software for companies that ranged from two people to two thousand. A couple of years ago I realized the thing I was best at, and enjoyed most, was helping smaller businesses get the same kind of technical help big companies take for granted.

That's what Model40 does.

I'm based in Francisville, Kentucky. If you're in Northern Kentucky or the Cincinnati area, we can meet in person. If you're somewhere else, video calls work fine.

I keep the client list small. That means I can return your call the same day, remember the details of your business, and do the work myself instead of handing it to someone I've never met. It also means I say no sometimes, which is honest, and worth more than a fast yes that goes nowhere.

What I care about

Clear pricing

You should know what something costs before you call.

Doing the work

I don't outsource to people you've never talked to.

Saying what's true

If something isn't a good idea, I'll tell you.

Finishing

I don't leave projects half done.

Also available

Three services are the core of Model40, but I still take on occasional IT work for local businesses. Networks, servers, general tech support, the kind of mess that shows up on a Monday morning and has no one to call. It's case-by-case, not a productized offer, but if you've got something like that, reach out and we'll see if I can help.

The name

Model 40 is a nod to my antique John Deere Model 40 tractor. A workhorse: unglamorous, reliable, and put to work solving real problems. That's the kind of business I'm building.
